How to Add an Additional Passkey

Updated over 2 months ago

You can now add up to three additional passkeys to your Infinex Account - giving you more ways to login. The easiest way to access your Infinex Account across devices is by storing your passkey in a cross-platform password manager such as iCloud, 1Password or Bitwarden. This means you can still use your passkey even if you lose your device.

How to Add an Additional Passkey

Please note, before you can add an additional passkey, you must have 2FA and a recovery email set up.

  1. Go to Settings → Security & Access → Passkeys

  2. Unlock your settings using a current Passkey

  3. Tap Add Passkey

  4. Choose where to save it (this device or another)

  5. Confirm in your password manager

    1. Authenticate your new passkey in the manager

  6. Name your passkey (helpful to keep track)

  7. Confirm using an existing passkey

  8. A 24-hour cooldown begins - the new passkey won't be usable until its confirmed after this waiting period

    1. → You'll receive an email notification of your new passkey

    2. → You’ll use your 2FA code to confirm setup

Multiple Passkey FAQs

What do I need to add a new passkey?

You'll need to have both email and 2FA enabled. More info about setting up 2FA can be found in this article.

Why isn’t my passkey working?

New passkeys go through a 24 hour cooldown, then must be confirmed with your 2FA code before they can be used.

Can I store multiple passkeys in the same password manager?
No. Some password managers will overwrite your old passkey if you try to save more than one for the same service.

Do I need multiple passkeys?

Not necessarily, only one is required, however if your password manager doesn’t support cross platform sync, it’s a good idea to add another passkey to avoid being locked out.

How many passkeys can I create?

You can have up to three passkeys linked to your account.

What's the best way to manage multiple passkeys securely?

Adding a new passkey provides more flexibility of how and where you can access your Infinex account, and adds redundancy incase you lose access to where one passkey is stored. However, to keep your account secure, you need to ensure each place you save a new passkey to is also secure.
