At Infinex, passkeys power everything. They replace seed phrases and make logging in fast, secure, and familiar. This means you don’t need to copy-paste private keys.
What are Passkeys?
Passkeys are a safer, easier alternative to seed phrases. Instead of having to write down and manage a seed phrase, your Infinex account is protected by cryptographic keys that are securely tied to your device.
- Your private key stays locked on your device and is never shared, Infinex or anyone else can’t access it.
- The public key is stored by Infinex to verify your login and keep your account safe.
How does Infinex use passkeys?
Infinex partners with Turnkey to generate passkeys in a fully non-custodial way.
This means:
- Neither Infinex nor Turnkey can access your private key.
- No one can act on your behalf or move funds without your explicit approval.
This setup:
- Protects against phishing attacks
- Eliminates the need for seed phrases
- Works seamlessly across multiple blockchains
As you use Infinex, smart contract wallets are automatically deployed on each network you interact with, giving you secure multichain access with a single login.
Types of Passkeys
Passkeys adapt to the device you’re using. You can choose the method that feels most convenient and secure:
Mobile Devices
- iPhone / iPad (iOS & iPadOS) – Use Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.
- Android – Use fingerprint unlock, screen lock PIN, or your device’s native passkey system.
Desktop Devices
- Mac (macOS) – Use Touch ID, Apple Watch unlock, or your macOS password.
- Windows – Use Windows Hello, which supports facial recognition, fingerprint readers, or a secure PIN.
- Linux (with supported browsers) – Use a connected security key or password manager that supports passkeys.
Password Managers (Cross-Device Sync)
Passkeys can be stored and synced across devices using modern password managers:
- Google Password Manager / Chrome – Stores passkeys securely in your Google Account and syncs across devices signed in with the same account.
- 1Password – A dedicated password manager that encrypts and syncs passkeys across iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac.
- Apple iCloud Keychain – Built into Apple devices for seamless passkey syncing between iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Security Keys
- Use a physical key like YubiKey for extra protection.
- Great for shared or less secure computers, or for users who prefer a dedicated piece of hardware.
How do I setup passkeys?
When you create a new Infinex account, setting up a passkey is part of onboarding.
Here’s the quick process:
- Create Your Account
Go to app.infinex.xyz/get-started and choose your username (this becomes your public handle).
- Choose Where to Store Your Passkey
Select your preferred method—device biometric, password manager, or hardware key.
- Authenticate and Confirm
Follow the prompts to lock in your chosen method.
Once confirmed, your passkey is securely tied to your device or password manager.
Tips for Managing Passkeys
- Add an additional passkey. For example, store a passkey in Google Password Manager and another in iCloud Keychain.
- Enable a recovery email: This allows you to recover your wallet if a device is lost.
- Consider a hardware key: Ideal if you prefer a physical backup for maximum security.
