How to Connect your Hardware Wallet to Infinex

Updated this week

By linking your hardware wallet device to Infinex, you get the best of both worlds: the seamless experience of our platform and the security of cold storage.

You can connect and manage your assets on your hardware wallets and approve transactions directly from your hardware device, and see and use your connected hardware wallet in the Infinex extension (v0.0.36 required) Below is a guide to connect to your hardware wallets.

Why Connect a Hardware Wallet?

  • Ultimate Security: Your seed phrase and private keys are never exposed to the internet or the Infinex interface.

  • Physical Verification: You (and only you) approve transactions by physically interacting with your device.

  • Non-Custodial: You maintain full control. We provide the interface; you keep the keys.

Supported Devices

Currently, Infinex supports the following hardware wallets:

  • Ledger (All models)

  • Trezor (Model One, Model T, Safe 3)

Step-by-Step Connection Guide

Connecting your device takes less than a minute. Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Wallet Imports: Open your Infinex dashboard and head to the Wallet section, then select Connect a hardware wallet

  2. Choose Your Device: Select either Ledger or Trezor.

    • Note: Ensure your device is plugged into your computer and unlocked before clicking connect.

  3. Name Your Wallet: Give your wallet a recognizable nickname (e.g., "My Cold Storage" or "Ledger Nano X"). This helps you keep track of multiple accounts.

  4. Confirm Connection: Follow the prompts on your browser and your hardware device to finalize the link.

Success! Your hardware wallet is now integrated into your Infinex portfolio.

What You Can Do (And What's Coming)

Once connected, you can use your hardware wallet for several core features:

  • View Portfolio: See your hardware wallet balances alongside your other Infinex accounts.

  • Send & Move: Transfer assets securely, signed by your physical device.

  • Browser Extension: Use your hardware wallet seamlessly through the Infinex browser extension.

[NOTE] "Swidge" (our cross-chain bridging and swapping tool) does not support hardware wallets just yet. We’re working hard to bring this feature to you soon!

Troubleshooting & Tips

If you're having trouble connecting, check these common fixes:

  • Check the Physical Connection: Ensure your USB cable is data-capable and firmly plugged in.

  • Unlock Your Device: Your wallet must be awake and the PIN entered.

  • Open the Right App: If using a Ledger, ensure the Ethereum (ETH) or relevant network app is open on the device screen.

  • Close Conflicting Apps: Ensure other wallet software (like Ledger Live or Trezor Suite) is closed, as they can sometimes "hog" the connection to the device.

Pro-Tip: Always double-check the transaction details on your hardware wallet screen before pressing the final button. If the address on your device doesn't match what you see on your computer, stop immediately.

FAQS

Does Infinex or third parties record my private key?

When you connect a hardware wallet, your private keys never leave your device. Infinex simply "reads" your public address to display your portfolio, while every transaction requires a physical button press on your device to authorise.

Do you support Swidge with hardware wallets?

We do not currently support Swidge on connected hardware wallets, however we plan on supporting this feature in the near future.
