What is Cardano?

Cardano is a proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain platform built for scalability, sustainability, and security. Powered by its innovative Ouroboros consensus protocol, Cardano provides an energy-efficient and reliable foundation for smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps).

Addresses on Cardano

There are a few different types of addresses you can come across on Cardano, and each serves a specific purpose.

  • Base Address - This is your everyday use address. You can use this to send, receive or hold ADA or other tokens supported by Cardano.

  • Enterprise Address - Designed mainly for organizations and exchanges. These addresses are often used when staking rewards are not needed as they carry no stake rights. You can still send, receive or hold tokens supported by Cardano on this address.

  • Reward Account Address - This is the address where your rewards for taking part in proof-of-stake protocol are delivered. You cannot send funds via your normal crypto transactions to this address.

  • Pointer Address - This is a more compact way of referencing staking credentials, often used in advanced or specialized cases.

Cardano on Infinex

You can easily deposit ADA from your native Cardano address directly into your Infinex account. On Infinex, you can also buy, sell, or trade ADA on Cardano through Swidge for a seamless trading experience. Additionally, you can send ADA to native Cardano addresses, including both base and enterprise addresses.
