Getting started with Perps

Infinex Perps is available to all users in your Infinex Account. Perps let you trade perpetual futures powered by Hyperliquid and Lighter, all within your Infinex account - no extra wallets or apps needed. This guide will walk you through everything you need to start trading.

What is Hyperliquid?

Hyperliquid is a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform that allows users to trade digital assets with deep liquidity and low slippage. It is designed for fast, efficient, and secure trading, leveraging blockchain technology to ensure transparency.

What is Lighter?

Lighter is a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform built as an application-specific zk-rollup order book on Ethereum and other EVM-compatible chains. Lighter is suitable users who want ZK-powered infrastructure and advanced order types on Arbitrum and focuses on low latency execution.

How to Add funds to Perps

  1. In your Infinex Account, you’ll see a Perps tab in your main nav.

  2. Select Add Funds to fund your trading account.

    1. You’ll need USDC on Arbitrum (Arb) for Lighter and USDC on HYPE for Hyperliquid in your Infinex account before you can trade. Use Swidge to easily move funds.

  3. Once funds are available, click Launch App to open the perps trading interface. Also, review the Terms of Use before trading.

  4. Your Infinex Wallet will automatically connect. Look to the top-right corner for the Infinex logo and your username to verify you’re linked.

  5. You’re now set and ready to trade!

How to Place a Trade

  1. Choose an Exchange: In the top left of your screen, select your preferred exchanged between Lighter and Hyperliquid to trade on.

  2. Choose a Market: In the Markets section, select a trading pair that interests you (e.g., ETH to USDT).

  3. Choose Direction: Decide whether you want to:

    1. Buy/Long - profit if the price goes up

    2. Sell/Short - profit if the price goes down

  4. Select Order Type: There are several order types:

    • Limit Order: Buy/sell at a price you set

    • Market Order: Buy/sell instantly at the current price

    • Take Profit/Stop Loss: Set a trigger price to automatically buy or sell when it’s reached

    • Stop Market: Set a trigger price to automatically execute a Market Order

    • Stop Limit: Set a trigger price to automatically execute a Limit Order

    • Scale: Automatically places multiple Limit Orders across a specified price range to fill an order gradually

    • TWAP: Splits a large order into smaller trades over time to achieve a price close to the time-weighted average price

  5. Enter Size: Specify how much you want to trade

  6. Place Order: Double-check your order details and confirm Place Order. Your order will be executed based on the market conditions.

Tip: If the price moves away from your limit order, you can click the Chase button to move your order to the top of the order book.

How to Close a Position

  • Open the Positions menu at the bottom of your Perps terminal

  • Click Close, select how much you want to close and choose Market to close your position at the current market price. You can also drag the slider to select a custom amount.

How to Withdraw Funds

  1. In your Infinex Account, navigate to Perps tab in your main nav

  2. Select Withdraw Funds

  3. Enter the amount you wish to withdraw

  4. Review and confirm to return funds to your Infinex Wallet

Note: $1.00 fee applies to withdrawals

Tracking your Perps Trades

Hyperliquid

You can easily track all your perpetual trading activity on-chain using HyperDash

  1. Copy your Ethereum Wallet Address from Infinex.

  2. Open HyperDash: HyperDash.info.

  3. Paste your ETH wallet address into the explorer’s search bar.

  4. View all trading activity, including:

    • Deposits & Withdrawals

    • Open Positions

    • Recent Fills (including total fees charged)

    • Completed Trades

    • Detailed trading metrics

Lighter

You can easily track all your perpetual trading activity on-chain using Lighter Explorer

  1. Copy your Ethereum Wallet Address from Infinex.

  2. Open Lighter Explorer: app.lighter.xyz/explorer

  3. Paste your ETH wallet address into the explorer’s search bar.

  4. View all trading activity, including:

    • Deposits & Withdrawals

    • Open Positions

    • Recent Fills (including total fees charged)

    • Completed Trades

    • Detailed trading metrics

FAQs

What are the fees?

Trading fees follow Hyperliquid’s fee structure plus a 0.05% builder fee. Currently, we’re also rebating 60% of our builder fee as direct cashback on every trade for a limited time. Lighter on the other hand does not charge any fees.

Can I use other stablecoins other than USDC?

Not yet. At this stage, only USDC on Arbitrum can be used for lighter and USDC on HYPE for Hyperliquid, more asset support is rolling out soon.

Is there a minimum deposit size?

The minimum deposit size is $10 USDC.

Is there a withdrawal fee?

Hyperliquid has a withdrawal fee of $1.00

Lighter doesn't have withdrawal fees.
