Infinex Wallet and Infinex Vault: A Comparison
Updated this week

Alongside the release of the Convert function, Wallet has joined the existing Vault infrastructure to solidify the status of your Infinex Account as not only the safest place to store crypto-assets, but also the easiest place to use them day to day. The primary differences between the Vault and the Wallet involve the recovery processes and range of protocol interactions each option is able to access.

Infinex Vault:

The Vault is the name for the set of smart contracts that secure the funds in your Infinex Account. Only the user that owns that Infinex account can control the actions of the Vault using their passkey, and when prompted, their two-factor authentication (2FA). In the scenario that a user loses their passkey or the Infinex platform is offline, funds are 100% recoverable on-chain. The Vault provides more on-chain options for storage and recovery, a feature ideal for experienced blockchain users. By design, the Vault is unable to access the full suite of integrations and features offered by Infinex. Currently, funds held in the Vault can only be interacted with through Send and Move; by moving funds from the Vault to the Wallet using Move, users will be able to utilize all Infinex native functionalities, including Swidge.

Infinex Wallet:

The Wallet is not a general purpose browser extension used to connect to third-party dApps, but exists rather as an integrated feature of the Infinex Account that allows users to easily access native functionalities while also ensuring the security of funds. The Wallet is able to directly call external third-party contracts, allowing for fluid interactions between the Infinex Account and dApps. Like the Vault, the Wallet is also secured by the underlying Turnkey architecture of the Infinex Account, but operating funds on the Wallet is not gated by the same levels of friction in comparison to the Vault. A off-chain recovery system is used by the Wallet, which can be triggered by the user. This requires a verified email set up on the Infinex Account prior to recovery.
